SmcFanControl controls the fans of every Intel Mac to make it run cooler. SmcFanControl lets the user set the minimum speed of the build in fans. So you can increase your minimum fan speed to make your Intel Mac run cooler. However in order not to damage your machines smcFanControl doesn't let you set a minimum speed to a value below Apple's.
Update: This trick still works with MacOS High Sierra and Mojave 10.14+.
Apple likes their computers quite so they leave the fans off for as long as possible. This could harmful if you are doing intense work or gaming in a hot location. I use SMC Fan Control to kick up the fans before the system get’s too hot.
Sadly SMC Fan Control stopped working after the High Sierra update, on my MacBook Pro 2013. If you have the same issue then try to reset the System Management Controller (SMC Reset).
Once you reset the Mac SMC, then the SMC Fan Control App should begin working again.
So let’s fix SMC Fan Control
It’s really here and I couldn’t have displayed it better than Save Apple Dollars YouTube video.
