End Of Support For El Capitan

End of support for OS X El Capitan Sophos Home ended support for macOS 10.11 El Capitan on October 31, 2019. Sophos Home endpoints running on these versions of macOS will no longer receive new features, bug fixes, protection updates and customer support. The last security update from Apple for macOS 10.11 El Capitan was in July 2018. The security clock is ticking down for Apple's OS X Mountain Lion, which will probably be retired from support this fall before the Cupertino, Calif. Company releases El Capitan.

In an announcement of new OneDrive features coming to the mobile clients, Microsoft said that it will be ending support for OneDrive on OS X 10.10 Yosemite and 10.11 El Capitan on February 1, 2019. The news isn't surprising, as Apple isn't even supporting the older versions of its OS anymore.

If you're still using the OneDrive sync client on Yosemite or El Capitan, don't worry, as it will continue to work. You should still think about upgrading to a newer version of macOS though, as you're pretty much running in an unsupported state. The client will no longer be tested on those OS versions, and issues won't be investigated or fixed after February 1.

Also, new installations of the sync client will be blocked on OS X 10.10 and 10.11. That means that while it will continue to run for the time being, if you uninstall OneDrive or reset your PC, you won't be able to get it back.

Microsoft is recommending that you upgrade your Mac to at least macOS 10.12 before February 1, but for the best experience, you should go for macOS 10.14 Mojave. After all, you'll need to be on the latest version of the OS to get OneDrive Files On-Demand.

Starting with Firefox version 49, Firefox requires Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or higher. Visit this Apple Support page to find your Mac OS version.

If you're using an outdated version of Firefox on Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) or earlier, the only way you can update Firefox to a secure version is to upgrade your Mac OS to a version that Apple supports. Visit this Apple Support page to learn more about upgrading your Mac.

Note: If you have Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard), you will need to download OS X El Capitan before you can upgrade to the latest Mac OS.

While insecure versions of Firefox will continue to work on OS X 10.8 and earlier, using an up-to-date version of Firefox on a supported version of Mac OS will provide you with the best and safest user experience.
