Aug 12, 2016 There could be some confusion here. Docker for Mac (like docker toolbox, and boot2docker before that) do not have the ability to create Mac OS X images to spawn containers. All three tools actually create small, Linux virtual machines running the. Googling on this got me to this page, which was for Docker Compose; and also this page, which was for Docker Machine. Somehow I then chanced on the correct page for Docker CLI Bash completion, which is what I was interested in.
Released:
Azure IoT EdgeHub Dev Tool
Project description
The Azure IoT EdgeHub Dev Tool provide a local development experience with a simulator for creating, developing, testing, running, and debugging Azure IoT Edge modules and solutions.
- The bits/code of Edge module running on simulator and IoT Edge Runtime are same.
- The Edge solution could be run with the simulator locally without pushing image and creating IoT Edge deployment.
- The credential needed to run Edge solution on simulator is IoT Edge Device Connectionstring. And IoT Hub Connectionstring is not needed.
- It helps to debug the module on the host (not in container) with the EdgeHub
The following table compares the steps needed to run the solution on the IoT Edge Runtime and iotedgehubdev tool.
IoT Edge Runtime | iotedgehubdev | |
---|---|---|
Device Credential Needed | YES | YES |
IoT Hub Credential Needed | YES | NO |
Build Image | YES | YES |
Push Image | YES | NO |
Create Deployment | YES | NO |
Support native debug scenario | No | YES |
Installing
Install Docker CE (18.02.0+) onWindows, macOS or Linux.
Install Docker Compose (1.20.0+) (Only required for Linux. Compose has already been included in Windows/macOS Docker CE installation)
Install Python (2.7/3.5/3.6/3.7/3.8) and Pip
Install iotedgehubdev by running below command in your terminal
Note: Please install iotedgehubdev to root on Linux/macOS (Don't use '--user' option in the 'pip install' command).
Please make sure there is no Azure IoT Edge runtime running on the same machine with iotedgehubdev since they require the same ports.

Nov 18, 2017 Wifi says it is connected and the diagnostics show that it is working fine but the status indicator drop down says it is 'Looking for Networks' every 5 seconds. Trying to work remotely is a nightmare since I was constantly being tossed out. It was not my router, since my iPad has no problem connecting and staying connected. Next, click on the WiFi option in the left pane and then click on the Advanced button (See image below). On the next screen, click on the WiFi tab (in case you are not already there) and then click on the WiFi Network (in Preferred Networks window) that you want to remove from your Mac (See image below). Once the Network that you want to remove is selected, click on the Minus. Oct 16, 2015 The one quirk I have seen with wireless networking in OS X EL Capitan is that some wifi networks will not re-join automatically on waking from sleep, which is a bug that has been around on the Mac for a long time. Otherwise, for me, El Capitan is much better than Yosemite ever was. Jan 19, 2016 I asked for El Capitan support but they didn't explicitly acknowledge that; I got back the following reply: the oldest OS it will support is 10.4.11 to later meaning newest OS. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know by replying to this email. El Cap is of course the newest OS, but she might as well be quoting from some old info. You can get up and running with Docker for macOS 10.10.2 Yosemite to 10.12.x Sierra by installing the Community Edition Docker for Mac free client (aka Docker CE for Mac).
Docker is gaining more popularity as a development environment, it runs applications in containers ontop of the existing operating system’s hardware which makes it more optimal than traditional Virtual Machine technologies such as VirtualBox which do not – instead these have the overhead of a virtual hardware layer.
For older macOS versions you need to go with the Docker Toolbox app.
The install is a complete Docker development environment and also includes docker apps.
Install Docker from downloading the macOS docker app from the docker store
Once download completes open and install the docker.dmg
That’s the install done, launch Docker by opening the app and you will see a docker icon Menu item at the top of the finder with links to Docker info and tasks.
