Could Not Open File For Reading Permission Denied Macos

I bought this app called Xee from the Mac app store. It can open files perfectly fine but when I try to browse through a folder from within the Xee app, it has to request permission. (See the screenshot below.) I have to do this for every folder the first time I browse it. I assume that this is a limitation imposed by the app store. If you have a warning before or after “Permission Denied,” read it to understand why you could not execute your command. You can check the permissions of a file by entering “ls -l file.ext” in the terminal, where “file.ext” represents the file and extension of the file you’re trying to modify. If you are either trying to read/save a file or create a temporary file in a directory/folder for which you have read/write access, but receive an. Error, (in FileTools:-TemporaryFilename) permission denied: no write access (Maple) error, or something similar, your security settings may need to be updated.

Could Not Open File For Reading Permission Denied

Q: When I try to save my document, it won’t allow me to do so. I get a message reading “Access is denied”. How can I solve this issue?

A: The “Access is denied” message means that you do not have permissions to modify the file that you are working on. This could happen for various reasons such as:

  • The file has been marked as “Read Only”
  • The file is currently open in another program that has locked the file preventing other programs from modifying it
  • The file has user specific permissions preventing your account from modifying the file

Make sure the file is not open in any other programs and check the file properties to make sure you have permissions to modify the file. This should resolve your issue.

In the meantime, to save the file, a simple workaround is to save the file as an another file name using “Save As” instead of “Save”.
